Watercolour Fabric

I spent today doing what I love most – painting and creating beautiful watercolour florals to use in my fabric designs. Watercolour fabric is just so divine to sew with.

My husband bought me a beautiful white desk to place under the window. It has been my dream for a while to place a desk in this pretty window position. As a surprise, he bought it for Valentine’s Day and assembled it on the weekend with the help of our sweet 6-year-old boy. It was a labour of love! Now I can sit at my desk and watch the garden and the bush and paint to my heart’s content.

I also love to use gouache paint, which is basically a watercolour paint too. Gouache allows you to build deeper and more vibrant colours. It was the medium I was taught to use when I went to Art School as the International School of Colour & Design. It is funny how you tend to go back to what you know. The years I spent studying at that school are some of my fondest memories. This course is highly recommended for colour theory and design.

a day in my studio

I will also post more from my studio in the coming months. Posting some new videos of my fabric design process is something I have wanted to do and share for a while. I want to be able to share my process of how I design watercolour fabrics from start to finish.
